I am Daniel Sobczak and I am proud to have served as your NEA Director for the last three years. I have worked hard to represent all GAE members while on the NEA Board of Directors during my term. I am a classroom teacher at Southwest DeKalb High School in DeKalb County. I have been working at SWD for the last 11 years and have been a proud ODE, GAE, and NEA member during that entire time. Prior to that, I worked at GIVE Center West in Gwinnett County and was a member of the Gwinnett County Association of Educators during my time there. My family moved to Georgia in 1986, and I am a proud product of the Gwinnett County Public School System. Currently, I spend my time helping to raise my two nephews Jensen and Grayson and help prepare them to be ready to enter the DeKalb County Schools in the next few years. In addition to my family and association responsibilities, I serve as the secretary for the Trinity Lutheran Church (Lilburn) leadership team. As a social studies teacher, I feel it is very important to help my students become active citizens in their community, in the state, and in our country. Our students will change the world. It is our job as educators to help prepare them for that monumental task. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing trivia, and supporting local Atlanta Sports teams, especially the Atlanta Gladiators, the Atlanta Braves, and the Gwinnett Stripers. I hold a M.Ed. in Social Studies Education from Georgia State University and a B.S. in Economics from Oglethorpe University. Fighting the good fight with you. Making a difference for Georgia's Public Schools.
